All of Us Research Program

AllofUs Research Program is an essential part of the Nephrology Division clinical research portfolio. The Program is a momentous effort to advance individualized prevention, treatment, and care for people of all backgrounds. People ages 18 and older, regardless of health status, can enroll. The overall aim is to enroll 1 million or more volunteers and oversample communities that have been underrepresented in research to make the program the largest, most diverse resource of its kind. Dr. Gharavi is the Principal Investigator for the NYC AllofUs Consortium (NYCC). Maria Morban, CRC, leads All of Us recruitment in the Division. Total enrollments in NYCC is 31, 402 (the goal is to enroll 93,000). 15, 651 participants are enrolled at Columbia, including 668 from Nephrology. In July, Maria enrolled 13 participants and was able to follow up on 9 previously enrolled.

Please, refer your patients to this study,. Feel free to email Maria at mm4345@cumc.columbia.edu if you have any questions.

IgAN Walk 6.11.23

On June 11th members of Dr. Kiryluk’s and Dr. Gharavi’s labs went to South New Jersey to participate in the IgAN annual walk. Special “thank you” goes to German Varela and Maayan Sofer, who prepared all the supplies. We recruited 21 people, including transplant patients and many family members. It was such a pleasure to reconnect with our former recruits and their family members. Sarath Krishna Murthy, the CPMG Director of Bioinformatics, took a part in the 5K run, and did very well! Nick Steers was in charge of answering science-related questions, and the participants kept him busy all the time!

Thank you to everyone who took a part in it:

(German Varela, Estephany Disla, Maayan Sofer, Maria Morban, Vanna Nicasio, Sharvari Pathak, Jenna Simpson, Rachel Mufson, Nikita Toma, Kelsey Stevens, Nick Steers, Sarath Krishna Murth, Vita Kolupaeva)

eMERGE IV Update

eMERGE IV (Electronic Medical Records and Genomics Phase IV) Study (Dr. Krzysztof Kiryluk is one of the Principal Investigators) has now approached 50% target with nearly 1,200 participants enrolled; first genomic risk reports are now being returned to the participants and their physicians. It is an amazing milestone! Congratulations! German Varela and Estefhany Disla, CRCs, enroll patients not only in Nephrology, but all over the campus, even traveling to the Tarrytown clinic. The recruitment will continue over the next 12 months, so it’s not too late to participate or refer your patients for this exciting study!
